  • Do you need to be a member to shoot?

    No. We do not have a membership. Anyone is able to come and shoot.

  • Do you need a gun licence?

    No (if bringing your own shotgun a valid firearms licence is required).

  • What age can you start to clay pigeon shoot?

    Usually from the age of 10 children are strong enough to hold a shotgun and able to understand the important safety aspects necessary in order to enjoy the sport.

  • Do we need to book?

    Yes, you do need to book. Bookings are essential.

  • How do I get to the activities area?

    There is a short walk along a forest walkway but if you have any queries about a particular injury or health concern, please advise us as transportation can be provided.

  • Where is Newzengland Ltd located?

    Newzengland Ltd is located at Terrace Downs High Country Resort, Coleridge Road, Windwhistle. In addition to being an easy one hour drive from Christchurch International Airport and a 20 minute drive from Methven, we are also convenient to the West Coast and South Canterbury, making it an ideal activity while on tour around the South Island.   • Can someone come and watch?

    Yes, we do allow people to come and watch as long as they wear the relevant safety equipment provided.

  • Is the lesson cancelled if it rains?

    No! Clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport, and unless conditions outside are deemed to be dangerous then we carry on! We advise participants to bring the appropriate clothing for the day. Remember we are based at the foot of the Southern Alps and weather conditions can change quickly.

  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

    Yes. We enforce a strict cancellation policy and there will be a charge if cancellation or rescheduling is less than 24 hours. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Can I go out and shoot unaccompanied?

    No. You are always accompanied by an instructor.

  • Does it hurt?

    Instructors choose the appropriate calibre shotgun for you, and show you how to place a shotgun correctly in your shoulder. The combination of these elements ensure that firing any shotgun should not hurt.

  • Can I bring my camera?

    Please feel free to bring your camera to take some photos of the stunning scenery of the Southern Alps and Rakaia Gorge and some action shots while experiencing the thrill of clay shooting or archery. We would love you to share your photos on our facebook page too.
